Tomato, Bacon, and Basil Salad

5 cups cherry tomatoes -- halved
6 slices bacon -- cooked and crumbled
1/3 cup basil, fresh -- snipped
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
2 teaspoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
1 each garlic clove -- minced
4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
salt and pepper -- to taste
fresh basil sprigs

In a bowl, toss together tomatoes, bacon, and basil. For dressing, in a small bowl combine vinegar, sugar, dry mustard, garlic, salt, and pepper. Add olive oil in a steady stream, whisking until blended. Pour dressing over tomato mixture. Toss lightly. Garnish with additional fresh basil sprigs, if desired. Makes 6 side-dish serving.
