Mushroom Spread

4 slices bacon
2 tablespoons bacon drippings
8 ounces mushrooms -- fresh, chopped
1/2 cup onion -- finely chopped
1 each garlic clove -- minced
2 tablespoons flour, all-purpose
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper -- fresh ground
8 ounces cream cheese -- cubed
2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon soy sauce
1/2 cup sour cream
1 tablespoon lemon juice -- fresh
1 as needed cracker bread or Bremner wafers

Cook bacon in large skillet until crisp; drain, reserving 2 tablespoons of the drippings. Crumble bacon and set aside.

Add mushrooms, onion and garlic to reserved drippings in skillet. Cook over medium heat until tender and most of the liquid has evaporated. Stir in flour, salt and pepper; cook until smooth and bubbly. Add cream cheese, Worchestershire and soy sauce. Stir until cheese is melted. Stir in sour cream, lemon juice and crumbled bacon. Heat through. Do not boil. Serve warm with crackerbread or Bremner wafers.
