Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

2 sticks butter -- 1/2 pound
1 cup light brown sugar
1 cup sugar
2 each eggs
1 1/2 cups flour, all-purpose
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg -- fresh grated
3 cups rolled oats
1 1/2 cups raisins -- optional

Substiture 1 cup Butter Flavored Crisco + 2T water for a dairy free version.

Preheat oven to 350F and set racks to low and middle positions.

Beat butter until creamy. Add sugars; beat until fluffy, about 3 minutes. Beat in eggs one at a time

Mix flour, salt, baking powder and nutmet together, then stir them into butter-sugar mixture with wooden spoon or large rubber spatula. Stir in oats and optional raisins.

Form dough into 16-20 2 inch balls. Bake until cookie edges turn golden brown, about 22 to 25 minutes. Halfway through baking turn cookie sheets around and rotate from top to bottom.

Options: add 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon or 1/2 teaspoon of orange zest.
